Stuff…currently off the side
So I had originally planned to release something today. April was my goal. Unfortunately my life has been pretty hectic and chaotic lately. Though I’ve always enjoyed thriving off the chaos. It’s frustrating at the moment, but very rewarding. I surprise myself sometimes how much I can accomplish.
Going back to my project, these past few months have been a great growing experience. Definitely has given some refreshing perspective on things.
This will carry on through my projects and my new goal will be to be more ambitious and go back to my original goal of completing an entire album.
I’m still trying adjust to my daily life but once I do I will dedicate to realizing some personal projects.
Quick word on 2013.
For the past few years, each year has been even more amazing than the previous. Just when I think I can’t top the events of a year, it somehow manages to happen.
This past year I lived abroad once again for the first half of the year in France. I got to see French President François Hollande, visit the UN in Geneva, had a couple of interviews abroad, saw new cities and met new friends along the way.
After four years, I finally finished school and got my degrees in Global International Studies, French Language and Literature, with a minor in music.
I returned home where not everything is perfect but am surrounded by my family and friends who have supported me along the way.
Later in the year I saw my favorite band Nine Inch Nails twice in Vegas and got to hang out with my NIN friends I haven’t seen in years. That same weekend I met some of the band members and even UFC fighter George St. Pierre.
Ended the year with my older brother and his family visiting for Christmas whom I don’t see too often. It was great seeing him and my nephew and was nice being united as family once again.
Like every year, I can’t imagine how 2014 can surpass 2013 but maybe I’ll be in for a surprise once again.
On We March
So I didn’t quite meet my deadline on my music project. However I’m happy to have set a time schedule for my work. It pushed me to work on it and although I didn’t get 6 songs done, I now have 5 of 6 basic structured songs.
I will continue to work on them and hope to finish them “soon” and have an early 2014 release.
So earlier this year I gave myself a deadline to complete a project. I reduced it from an album to an EP awhile back.
I’m happy to say that so far everything seems to be going fine. I had a breakthrough and figured out what I want to and structuring and putting the pieces together. I really do hope to finish composition this year.
I then hope to record, master, and release something early next year and from then on move onto a full album which I would want to be done before the end of 2014.
Pushing myself and limiting the time has forced me to get creative and work on music. Really excited to have a finish product ‘soon’.
New Inspiration from Unexpected Sources
So I was in Vegas this past weekend for Nine Inch Nails. Two shows at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel. Epic weekend included seeing soundcheck, running into Josh Eustis, Sharlotte Gibson of NIN and also George St. Pierre after his fight.
Despite being excited to see NIN live again after four years, I was most excited for seeing my friends again. The NIN community has been one of the best things to happen to me and have made many great friends through them.
So while waiting around before the show, my friends put on Kanye West’s latest album “Yeezus”. I never really listened to him, mostly out of a biased against him. I really don’t like the way he presents himself in interviews, and most of the stuff I’ve heard I was meh about. Never really struck a chord with me.
My friends said Yeezus was different, and so they put it on.
I was immediately drawn into and blown away by the production. I never expected that album to be so amazing. I think this is the most surprised I have ever been by an album. I love it. Been listening to it a lot this week, and really got some ideas going. I am looking to spend this weekend developing those ideas. Me liking Kanye West was an unexpected surprise.
Upon returning to the Hard Rock hotel from In-N-Out, we ran into Josh Eustis of Nine Inch Nails and Telefon Tel Aviv. Couple of hours later, we also ran into Sharlotte Gibson, one of the back up for Nine Inch Nails. It was our third time running into her, be we finally managed to stop being awkward and ask for a picture.
To continue the epic night, we continued drinking into the morning until we ha to split our own ways with my friends. Great weekend and can’t wait to see my NIN friends again. Miss you all <3
